Nepal buys EVs worth Rs 12.5 billion in six months, imports Rs 2.66 billion in a month

Kathmandu. In the first six months of the current fiscal year, Nepalese have purchased electric vehicles (EVs) worth more than Rs 12.5 billion. According to the statistics of the Department of Customs, EVs worth Rs 12.51 billion have been purchased by Nepalese people till mid-January.

EVs worth Rs 2.66 billion were imported in Nepal from mid-November to mid-December. EVs worth Rs 9.89 billion were imported till mid-November.

During this period, 12,489 EVs have entered Nepal. A total of 2,976 EVs have been imported in Nepal in the month of January alone.

This has also increased the revenue collected by the government.

In the first six months of the current fiscal year, the government has collected revenue of Rs 7.63 billion by importing EVs. In the month of January alone, the government collected Rs 1.74 billion in revenue from the purchase of such vehicles.
