Kathmandu. The candidacy of patron of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NAUPA) Nepal, Resham Chaudhary, who had filed his candidacy from Kailali constituency-1, has been canceled.

The Office of the Election Officer has decided to annul Chaudhary’s candidacy after investigating the complaint filed against him.

Although Chaudhary, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, has been pardoned by the President, the decision of the court cannot be annulled as per the Article 159 (10) of the Civil Criminal Procedure Code, 2074. 11. The candidacy of Chaudhary was annulled as he would be ineligible to become a member of a political party as per the decision of May 24.

A case was filed against him as the mastermind of the Tikapur massacre of August 23, 2015. The Kailali District Court had convicted him on March 5, 2018.
