Kathmandu. Three children started writing on Friday as part of an educational scholarship program announced by the Golyan Group for the children of the martyrs of the Genji movement. On the occasion of Saraswati Puja, they have started their first educational journey in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Siraha (Lahan).
Golyan Group had announced a scholarship scheme up to grade 12 for the children of martyrs on October 12. A total of 34 children are involved in the scheme. Of them, three of them were of school admission age on Friday. Nelson Parajuli of Kathmandu Euro School in Baniyatar, Kathmandu, Anik Gurung of Early Childhood Academy, Ranipauwa, Pokhara and Binanshi Chaudhary of Lahan, Siraha started the letters. All three children are 2 years old.
Akshay Golyan, Chairman and Managing Director of Golyan Group, said that the company has taken up the social responsibility to honour the sacrifices made by the parents of children for the country. “Our help is not a gift or a kindness, it is a responsibility. We want to support the education of children in the long term,” he said, so that children can become doctors, engineers, teachers and entrepreneurs who want to be educated. Their success will not only strengthen the family but also the country. He said that education provides self-confidence, opportunity and the way to the future, adding that children who know letters today can become citizens of building the country tomorrow.
On the occasion, Chairman and Managing Director Golyan handed over a cheque of Rs 3,76,000 to the school for one year’s academic scholarship. According to Jyoti Gaire, Chief of Corporate Affairs, Communications and Public Relations of Golyan Group, a tripartite agreement has been reached between the martyr’s family, the concerned school and Golyan Group to cover a maximum of Rs 4.80 lakh annually at the rate of Rs 40,000 per month for each child under the educational scholarship program. “The fees have already been paid to the schools that have sent the bills as per the agreement,” she said, adding, “We are implementing the scholarship program as per the commitment.” ’
Pramod Pandey, Chairman of Kathmandu Euro School, said that Golyan Group has broadened its responsibility towards the society by taking the responsibility of educating the children of the martyrs of the Genji movement. “The philanthropic heart of the Golyan Group has internalized the saying that education is the greatest wealth,” he said, adding, “We will also fulfill our responsibility and responsibility efficiently to fulfill the dreams of the martyrs.” ’
Speaking at a ceremony organized in Pokhara, Principal of Early Childhood Academy, Salvi Bastola Masani said that the support provided by Golyan Group for the children of martyrs has made the school family feel more responsible. “We have been hearing about the support provided by the Golyan Group in the social sector and today we are very happy to collaborate with our school to educate the children of martyrs,” she said, adding, “Now with the cooperation of all of us, the opportunity and responsibility has come to brighten the future of children.” ’
After enrolling her in the School of Scholar in Lahan, her elder father Ajay Chaudhary expressed his belief that the dream left by his brother (martyr Vijay) will come true. Expressing his gratitude to the Golyan Group, he said, “Not all rich people are as agreeable as the Golyan Group. ’
