Kathmandu. Continuation to contribute towards sports development and youth empowerment, Ncell has partnered as the main sponsor of the 6th National Volleyball Championship Tiger Cup National and International Invite Club Championship Volleyball Tournament 2082 to be held in Pokhara from today.
The Tiger Cup has been held continuously for the last five years. Ncell was the main sponsor of the event last year as well. Ncell has partnered with Tiger Group of Pokhara Nepal as the main sponsor.
“This collaboration with Tiger Cup demonstrates Ncell’s deep commitment towards sports and youth empowerment, which is linked to nurturing talent at the local level. We are confident this tournament will contribute in promoting volleyball, the beloved sport of Nepal, and will play a vital role in nurturing future national talents while empowering local level youths,” said Upang Dutta, Chief Consumer Business Officer of Ncell. He said that sports will connect the society and play a role in bringing positive change.
The tournament will be held at the Volleyball Training Center at Pokhara Stadium till January 30. Narayan Prasad Sharma, Chairman of Tiger Group of Pokhara Nepal, said, “We are very thankful to Ncell for supporting us in the Tiger Cup this year as well. With such cooperation, support and contribution, we have become the biggest volleyball tournament in the country. ”
A total of 11 teams, including 5 women’s and 6 men’s teams, are taking part in the tournament. In women’s category, Nepal Police Club, Nepal Armed Police Force Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Tip Top New Diamond Youth Sports Club and Thailand Queens are taking part in the tournament. In men’s category, Gandaki Province Volleyball Association, Nepal Police Club, Nepal Army Club, Nepal APF Club, Parbat District Volleyball Association and Maldives are the teams in the men’s category.
The winner of the tournament will get a cash prize of Rs 666,666, second prize Rs 366,666 and third prize Rs 206,666. Ncell, as a responsible corporate organisation, has been playing a significant role towards sports development and unlocking talents.
Apart from volleyball, Ncell has also supported various sports development including cricket and football by collaborating with Nepalese players. Ncell as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has also supported the para-athletes for their skill development and training as a part of the company.
