More than 1.25 million mobile phones imported from 50 countries

Kathmandu. A total of 1,252,634 mobile phones worth Rs 23.29 billion have been imported from 50 different countries in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

According to the Department of Customs, the government has collected Rs 4.34 billion in revenue from the mobile phone. Most of the phones in Nepal are imported from China and India. In the first six months of the current fiscal year, China imported 1,061,045 phones worth Rs 18.52 billion.

The state has collected Rs 3.45 billion in revenue from this phone. Similarly, India is the second largest importer of phones in Nepal. Nepal imported 186,703 mobile phones worth Rs 4.45 billion from India. The state has earned Rs 83.17 crore when the phone is imported.

Nepal imported 574 mobile phones worth Rs 77.44 million from the US, 676 mobile phones worth Rs 65 million 90 thousand from Dubai, 1,723 mobile phones worth Rs 52.7 million 95 thousand from Australia and 597 mobile phones worth Rs 55 million 16 thousand from Japan.

Imports of phones in Nepal are from South Korea, Qatar, the UK, Canada, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Finland, Malaysia, Portugal, Israel, Germany, Switzerland, New Zealand, Thailand, among other countries.

Less than 10 units of mobile phones have been imported from most countries. The import of smart phones has increased due to foreign employment. For this, the internet facility has become even easier in recent times.
