Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) is to investigate into the persons involved in spreading rumours against banks and the financial sector through social media.

The CIB has started investigation against Devi Prasad Sangraula of Citizen Save Mega Campaign Nepal on the charge of making statements against public morality and decency by targeting banks and financial institutions through various digital platforms including social media.

Sangraula has made statements on social media with the intention of beating up bank employees and creating incidents like storehouses. The CIB had produced Sangraula for preliminary interrogation in the case. During this time, he admitted to speaking against the bank in violation of the rule of law.

He has made a written commitment to abide by the law and speak uprightly, not to make any statement affecting the society and state and apologize to the government for once.

Likewise, the CIB has said that it is continuously monitoring the illegal expression and dissemination of audio-visual material on social networks and other digital platforms.
