She said that she used to do business of four to six lakhs annually from this business and save half of the money by running household expenses. She buys and breeds small males. For this, she has been contacting local poultry farmers. The males who have been bought in this way have been castrated after four months.

She says that even if there is little land in the open spaces, it is easy to raise male slaughter. It is an attractive business because it is easy and can be done with little investment. Janaki, who has been running a business by registering Dangali Poultry Farm, has also received support from her husband.

We have also been earning good income from commercial rearing of male castures, so we have been continuing this for a long time. He said, “It has become easier in recent times as I know all the work myself, there is no problem for sales.” Farmer Chaudhary has been selling it easily. According to him, there is a lot of demand for the male during the festive season.

“You can get double the price by raising and selling small chicks,” she said, adding, “I have not had to look for other work to earn income since I started this business.” The chicken produced by him is exported to Kathmandu, Pokhara and other places.

Not only Janaki, most of the farmers in the district are active in poultry farming. Due to the high demand in the market and adequate price, the male has become the main identity of Dang in the last few years.
