Development of country’s economy should be common agenda of upcoming elections: Chair Dhakal

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has said development of country’s economy should be the common agenda of the upcoming elections.

Inaugurating the Waling Festival organized in Syangja today, Chairman Dhakal urged all political parties to give priority to the agenda of development of economy in their election manifestos and make it a common agenda of all.

“Development of national economy is the first need of the hour. Preparations are underway for the parliamentary elections in the country. Economic development should be the common agenda of all parties. I want to request all the parties to do the same.

Dhakal also urged the political parties to include the agendas of the private sector for the country’s economic development in the election manifestos as they were preparing to write their election manifestos.

He argued that the private sector has been taking initiatives to achieve economic development in the country through industrial development and create employment opportunities in the country since long and such agendas should get priority in the upcoming elections as well.

Stating that the private sector has been staging that economy should be the common agenda of all no government since the past, the FNCCI has been holding discussions on this issue by bringing all political parties on the same platform for this and has demanded the formation of high-level economic reform suggestion commission for economic development.

President Dhakal recalled that the amendment of some traditional laws that were obstacles to the economic investment environment in the country and making the FNCCI statute relevant were completed after he came to the FNCCI leadership.
