Myagdi. MYAGDI: Snowfall has occurred at Gurja of Dhaulagiri rural municipality-1 and Ghodepani of Annapurna rural municipality-6 in Myagdi district on Wednesday.

Normal life has been affected due to snowfall. Gunram Chhantyal, ward member of Dhaulagiri rural municipality-1, Gurja, said it has been snowing continuously since this morning. He said it rained last night and about two inches of thick snow accumulated.

The trekking route and road linking Gurja at an altitude of two thousand seven hundred metres above the sea level have been obstructed due to snowfall. People are warming themselves by the fire inside their homes. Cattle and sheep have been kept in cowsheds and fed dry grass.

Tourist sites like Ghodepani, Punhill, Khopra and Mohredada have also been covered with snow. Mina Pun, a hotel entrepreneur of Ghodepani, said the hustle and bustle has decreased after the snowfall. The number of tourists visiting Ghodepani and Punhill has decreased.

This is the second snowfall of the year. Rainfall has occurred in Myagdi district. The rains have benefited the winter crops. Bhupendra Sharma, a farmer of Malika Rural Municipality-7, said that the rainwater and snow have helped irrigate the area.

He said that by wetting the dry land, the plants will get the necessary nutrients and the crops will flourish. The rain has helped in the production of wheat, barley, peas and orange fruits.
