Dang. As the date for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 4 draws closer, the candidates are busy in door-to-door campaigns. The candidates are distributing various assurances among the voters to attract votes in their favor.
Voters, on the other hand, have demanded that the candidates be given a guarantee of development projects rather than assurances. Suresh Pun Magar of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City-18 said that the people have to repeat the same demands with the leaders every year due to the tendency of giving assurances during the election but not working later.
“I have voted many times but none of the leaders have lived up to their promises. Hundreds of thousands of youths are compelled to go abroad every day due to lack of employment opportunities in the country,” he said. ”
In his address to Nepali Congress candidate from Dang constituency-2, Khima Gharti, a voter of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-18, said that there was a need of a leader who would support the people when they were in need of a leader during the election.
Other locals also complained to Ghimire that they had heard many assurances in the past but the expected development could not be achieved. They said that basic necessities such as road, drinking water, education, health and employment remain incomplete.
After listening to the complaints, candidate Ghimire took the problems of the citizens seriously and expressed commitment to take initiatives for the development of the people as per the need.
Most of the voters have complained that they have been facing problems due to the tendency of not fulfilling the promises made by the candidates during the election to upgrade roads, construct culverts, blacktop roads, provide electricity, irrigation, canal construction, and install hum pipes.
CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, Nirmal Acharya of the Nepali Communist Party and Bipin Acharya of the Rastriya Swatantra Party are among the candidates in Dang constituency-2.
There are 15 wards of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City, four wards of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City and eight wards of Bangalachuli Rural Municipality in Dang-2.
