Still. As many as 10 families affected by the under-construction 140-MW Tanahun Hydropower Project at Rishing Rural Municipality-1, Jhaputar have been provided with compensation.
A meeting of the Compensation Fixation Committee held recently under the chairmanship of the Chief District Officer (CDO) decided to determine the compensation for the loss incurred in course of the project construction in Lokpa, Dharapani, Dhoklak, Bulsat and Jhaputar areas.
Likewise, compensation has been determined for the orange trees damaged during the construction of retaining wall of the tower under Damauli Bharatpur transmission line at Sodhe of Byas municipality-14 on the basis of the committee’s field inspection report.
The Compensation Fixation Committee had met to address the issue of compensation demanded by the unlawful users and unsystematic settlers in the reservoir and buffer zone areas. The meeting also discussed on the additional responsibility assigned to the Compensation Fixation Committee to carry out on-site study and survey of the unregistered land that has been cultivated, used and inhabited within the project’s reservoir and buffer zone.
Headworks including dam and other structures under package-1, main tunnel, powerhouse and related equipments under package-2 and 220 KV Damauli-Bharatpur transmission line under package-3 are being carried out.
The total cost of the project includes $505 million invested in transmission line, rural electrification and construction period which will be shared by ADB with a total cost of $150 million, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) a $184 million, European Investment Bank $85 million as $85 million and Nepal Government ÷Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) 86 million dollars.
