Myagdi. Beni Municipality has already completed the project to upgrade the road linking Galeshwor, Pulashram (Pachhi) and Jagannath.
The project was completed five months ahead of the target with a year-long construction period operated by the Infrastructure Development Office. BBPL BSDS Dhawalagiri was selected for the project which the Gandaki Province government had allocated a budget of Rs 359.98 million.
The contract of the project was signed on July 30, 2082 at a cost of Rs 22.3 million. Beni municipality-9 ward chair Chakra KC said the project was completed before the target due to the contractor mobilizing adequate labourers, equipments and management of construction materials, facilitation at the local level, monitoring and coordination from the concerned offices.
“The message has been disseminated that delays in development projects can be removed if an environment conducive is created to carry out works through the willpower of entrepreneurs and concerned offices and facilitation at the local level,” he said, adding, “We had formed a stakeholder committee to ease the social problems that may arise in the construction of projects.” ”
Chief of Infrastructure Development Office, Senior Division Engineer Dr Mahendra Baniya said that the project will widen the road from Galeshwor of Beni municipality-9 to Koshepani via Kaulegauda by 300 meters slope and 1,100 meters of the road.
The road which was four meters wide before this has now been widened to seven meters. The road upgrading project has been started to bring the pilgrims heading to Mustang via Myagdi to Galeshwor, Pachhai and Jagannath as well as to increase their stay and for the convenience of the locals.
Galeshwar is the entrance to Muktinath, a common pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists, and later Ravana, the character of the Hindu scripture Ramayana, was born. There is a temple in the Shikhara style built by Dilip Bam Malla, the king of the then Parbat state.
Ward Chair KC said initiatives have been taken by the state government to manage budget for upgrading the remaining sections. The Galeshwor-Kaulegauda section of the Galeshwor-Kaulegauda road was upgraded through Beni municipality in his previous tenure.
