Kathmandu. The institutions listed in the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) have been divided into 12 groups.
Among the 12 groups, commercial banks accounted for the largest market capitalization (23.85 percent). According to a study, commercial banks have the highest market capitalization while finance groups have the least market capitalization. The finance group has the lowest share (1.69 percent).
Similarly, the market capitalization of development bank remained in the market at 4.51 percent, microfinance at 8.47 percent, life insurance at 9.26 percent, non-life insurance at 4.74 percent, production and processing at 6.51 percent, hotel and tourism at 3.10 percent, trade group at 4.86 percent, hydropower at 15.24 percent, investment at 7.38 percent and other companies at 10.38 percent.
In the past, the share of the financial sector has been gradually decreasing compared to about 80 percent of the market capitalization. The share of banks, development banks, finance companies, microfinance, life insurance and non-life insurance companies has decreased to 58.64 percent, 54.12 percent and 52.52 percent in the fiscal year 2080/81, fiscal year 2081/82 and 52.52 percent respectively.
The share of hydropower in the market capitalization seems to be increasing in recent years. As a result, the centralization of the financial sector in the stock market has gradually decreased and regional diversification has increased.
