Kathmandu. The younger generation is now active in the use of social media. Moreover, they are becoming more active on the eve of the election.

In such a sensitive time, in a momentary impulse, you have not been active in sharing and posting abusive and false information to others, or are you knowingly killing someone’s personal character? Beware! If you post such information on social media, you can be punished.

Central Spokesperson of Nepal Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police Avi Narayan Kafle said that the Nepal Police is vigilant on social media and action will be taken if such information is made public. According to him, a team has been formed to monitor the misuse of social media. He said that the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police is also monitoring the situation.

“It is a crime to use social media and various online mediums to spread misinformation, misinformation, disturb ethnic, religious, social and communal harmony, assassinate the character of others and create and share such material affecting peace and security,” he said.

The police have also urged all not to use any incident, expression, photo or video with the intention of spreading rumours by making a false, false or misleading way and not to like, share or comment to promote such material.

He also said that it is a crime to produce, promote or endorse content that is against the law, urging everyone to try to know whether any posts seen online are true or not before sharing them.

“We all have an important role to play in building a safe, civilised and positive digital environment. Let us be responsible citizens and help to maintain peace and harmony in the society. ”
