Jewelry stolen from unmanned houses in Birgunj, police investigating seriously

Birgunj. Incidents of theft of gold and silver and jewelry have come to light in Birgunj Metropolitan City.

Gold and silver worth Rs 5 million were stolen from the house of Shyam Kishor Lal Karna near the road leading to NI College at Birgunj-15 on January 26. Three unidentified persons stole gold and silver ornaments worth the price and fled the scene as there was no one in the house.

Similarly, a complaint was lodged at the District Police Office, Parsa on January 27 that gold and watches were stolen from the house of Birendra Singh at Birgunj-14. These two recent incidents show that gold and silver and other jewelry have been stolen in Parsa by taking advantage of the lack of people in the house.

Hari Bahadur Basnet, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Spokesperson of the Parsa Police, said that the theft of gold and silver ornaments targeted the houses without people. “Two complaints of theft have been received in and around Birgunj Metropolitan City in the past few days”, he said, adding, “We are searching for the culprits using the available resources and methods”. ”

Spokesperson Basnet of Parsa District Police said that the investigation has shown that most of the thefts took place in the absence of people in the houses. “We request the general public to inform the local police if we have to go out of the house as far as possible.

Spokesperson Basnet said that the police were seriously investigating into the two theft cases. A total of 26 cases related to theft have been registered in Parsa district till the third week of January of the current fiscal year. Of them, 44 defendants have been arrested while nine are absconding. While 13 defendants have been remanded in custody for further investigation, 24 have been released on bail. According to Parsa Police, the court has recently extended the remand of six accused involved in theft and investigation is underway.

In the fiscal year 2081/82, 38 cases of theft were registered in Parsa. Of them, 55 defendants were arrested and eight are absconding. Of the accused, 17 were remanded in custody while 36 were released on bail. Two were released on general dates.
