Kathmandu. With the increase in election activities, economic activities have also started increasing in Mahottari. Hoteliers, in particular, have benefited from this.
The presence of political parties, their candidates as well as the cadres has ensured that there will be no shortage of customers for the next one month, said the hoteliers.
“Our busy schedule has increased ahead of the election,” said Narayan Ghimire, hotel proprietor and general secretary of Hotel and Tourism Entrepreneurs Association, Mahottari. According to him, hotel business is doing well in all the markets of the district.
The number of customers at the hotel has increased after the election mobilization office of various political parties and independent candidates came into operation at Bardibas of House of Representatives constituency-1. A total of 10 political parties have set up election mobilization offices in and around Bardibas Chowk. Bimal Bhandari, another hotel entrepreneur of Bardibas, said that the market has been bustling with the operation of these offices.
Most of the centres in the four electoral constituencies of the district are located in the market area. The offices of the returning officers are in Bardibas of constituency 1, Balwa of constituency 2, Jaleshwor of constituency 3 and Ram Gopalpur of constituency 4. Not only these places, hotels in Matihani, Pipara, Manara, Samsi, Gaushala, Sitapur, Loharpatti, Aurahi, Khayarmara, Sarpallo, Rauza among other places are also crowded with customers. Mansul Kawari, a social worker of Rauza Bazaar, said that the movement of the market has increased with the increase in the gathering of party and independent candidates in these places.
Traders say that not only hotels but other businesses have also flourished due to the election activities. “Now the election has increased the hustle and bustle in the market,” said Sahbul Ansari, a garment trader of Sitapur Bazaar. ”
The market is booming. With this, the number of people for election purposes has increased in garment shops, painters and press for displaying flags, banners, pamphlets and pamphlets, said Ajay Sah of Gaushala Bazaar. The election is like a ‘great festival’ that is mobilized by the masses and households. Shiva Chandra Chaudhary, president of Jaleshwor Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the hustle and bustle will increase after the election campaign formally begins after February 13.
