Khotang. Treatment camp has been set up at Diplung of Jantedhunga rural municipality-6 after all the people including the bride and groom fell ill. A camp was set up at the house of Ram Kumar Rai, a resident of Bhanjyang at Nigalawas, Diplung, after he complained of fever and diarrhoea 12 hours after eating the feast.

Birbal Kirati, a local, said that those who attended the wedding feast are suspected to be suffering from food poisoning. The locals who attended a wedding party held in Diplung on February 4 have started falling ill since February 5.

An RRT team from the rural municipality’s health section, Health Office Khotang and people’s representatives have been mobilized for the treatment of the sick locals. Deputy Mayor of the rural municipality, Khem Bahadur Khadka, said that human resources along with medicines have been ordered from the health office after the number of patients attending the wedding feast increased.

Information Officer of the rural municipality, Binay Niraula, said that the number of people suffering from health problems has continued to come to the camp for treatment. The rural municipality has made arrangements for the treatment of the patients by gathering them at Nigalabas Bhanjyang since February 7 after the patients started coming in contact demanding treatment.

Rural Municipality Chair Aruna Devi Rai said they have received reports that guests from Kathmandu and Udayapur have also fallen ill. “We are treating 35 people in the camp with saline water and medicines. “It is estimated that around 200 people attended the wedding feast,” he said. After the camp started, we have started getting calls from all sides. Efforts are being made to arrange for their treatment. ”

Some of them have returned home after treatment, according to health workers. Kul Bahadur Poudel, chief of the Health Office, said efforts are underway to find out the cause of food poisoning. “It is not possible to collect samples of the feast as it is many days after the wedding. We have sent a patient who went to Kathmandu after a feast to Teku”, he said, adding, “Food poisoning can lead to many accidents.” We are confident that no incident will happen as medical treatment has been started immediately after the patient is identified in Jantedhunga. ”

The rural municipality has said arrangements have been made to provide treatment to the patients at the basic hospital as the number of patients has increased. Patients from outside the affected area and those with serious types have been admitted to the basic hospital and treatment has been started.
