Madhes Province government issues written directive to cut down on expenditures

Janakpurdham. The Madhes Province government has issued a written directive to curtail public expenditure.

The Ministry of Finance of Madhes Province has issued a circular to all ministries, directorates and offices and projects under the ministry to curtail public expenditure in the current fiscal year 2082/83.

The letter issued by the ministry has directed the government to strictly curb the purchase of vehicles, furniture, office decoration and expensive equipment, unnecessary seminars, visits and hospitality expenses.

The letter states that the decision has been taken to prevent the misuse of budget haphazardly, to maintain good governance in the budget and to effectively mobilize limited resources.

The letter, issued by Under-Secretary at the Ministry, Jaya Kumar Raut, directed the bodies concerned to manage the expenditure without affecting essential service delivery, ongoing development construction projects and priority projects. It has urged people not to use vehicles except in need, to reduce fuel and expenditure and to adopt frugality in maintenance.

According to the Ministry, the monitoring will be carried out to find out whether the expenditure has been followed or not on the issue related to reduction in expenditure. Those who do not comply will be punished as per the prevailing law.
