10 killed in Ramechhap bus accident

Ramechhap. RAMECHHAP: The identities of 10 of the 12 people who were killed in a bus accident near Manthali, the district headquarters of Ramechhap, have been identified.

The deceased have been identified as Bhim Bahadur Tamang, 38, of Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-7, Sanu Maya Tamang, 35, Ramita Tamang, 26, and Tara Tamang, 31, of Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-4, Babi Tamang, 22, and Dipendra Basnet, 26, of Likhu Tamakoshi-4, Dipesh Basnet and Man Kumari Baruwal, 45, of Likhu-6, Shiva Shrestha, 34, of Golanjor Rural Municipality-6, Sindhuli and Man Bahadur Tamang, 60, of Bhimeshwor Municipality-8, Dolakha According to medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Keshav Singh Dhami. The identities of the two deceased are yet to be ascertained, he said.

According to Ramechhap Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhola Bhatta, 8 people including the bus driver were injured in the accident. The injured are undergoing treatment at Khurkot-based Shuva Jeevan Hospital, Manthali Hospital and Tamakoshi Hospital. Police have taken the bus driver under control. The search for the remaining passengers is still underway, police said.

The accident took place when a passenger bus (State 03-01-005 Kha 9975) en route to Okhaldhunga from Kathmandu plunged into the Tamakoshi River some 100 meters down from the road at Manthali municipality-6 in Ramechhap district this morning.
