Kathmandu. Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industries Board Member Mohd Ahmed M. a. The delegation led by Alobaideli met with Minister for Finance Rameshwor Prasad Khanal and Minister for Foreign Affairs Balananda Sharma on Tuesday.
Present on the occasion were Misal Bin Mohammed Ali Al Ansari, Ambassador of Qatar to Nepal and President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal.
On the occasion, matters relating to Nepal-Qatar bilateral investment, trade expansion, and the possibilities of government-to-government and private sector collaboration were held during the meeting.
On the occasion, Finance Minister Rameshwor Prasad Khanal said that legal and structural reforms have been initiated to create investment-friendly environment in Nepal.
The government was ready to collaborate with the private sector to accelerate economic growth through foreign investment and technology transfer.
He also highlighted the possibilities of Qatari investment in various sectors including energy, minerals, health, education, tourism, agro-processing and information technology, among others.
Likewise, Minister for Foreign Affairs Bala Mand Sharma said that Nepal has given priority to policy reform and diplomatic facilitation for foreign investors, adding that there are ample opportunities for Qatari investors to invest in energy, tourism, infrastructure and information technology.
Ambassador of Nepal to Qatar Mishal Bin Mohammed Ali Al Ansari said the private sector of Qatar was interested in investing in Nepal.
FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal said the FNCCI had been playing active role in promoting the development model led by the private sector in Nepal. Calling on Qatari investors for long-term partnership in Nepal, he said that there was a huge potential for joint investment in energy, tourism, hydropower, hotel, agro-processing and infrastructure sectors.
Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industries Board Member Mohd Ahmed M. a. Likewise, Alobaideli expressed his positive views on the investment climate in Nepal and expressed his willingness to expand direct collaboration and business exchanges between the private sectors of both the countries.
The meeting is expected to bring Nepal-Qatar economic relations to a new height and prepare the basis for sound investment and collaboration in the future. The delegation also met with Governor Prof Dr Bishwanath Poudel today itself.
The Qatari delegation is visiting Nepal at the invitation of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).
