Let’s go to Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and National Statistics Office (NSO) have organized an interaction focused on the National Economic Census, 2082. On the occasion, the Office of the Statistics Office and the Confederation of Confederations (CNI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the study and data analysis.
Deputy Chief of the National Statistics Office, Dhundiraj Lamichhane, said that complete confidentiality of data would be maintained as per the Statistics Act, 2079 by clearing the doubts of the private sector in the National Economic Census, 2082.
Stating that the government is sensitive to the security of the details of industrialists and entrepreneurs, he said that this calculation is not for bringing anyone under the tax net or punishing them, but for research and policy formulation by preparing the country’s real economic indicators.
“This campaign will not be successful without the participation of the private sector. Therefore, we want to collaborate closely with organizations like the Confederation,” he said, adding, “The main slogan of the National Economic Census, 2082 is ‘Economic Census for Economic Measurement’.
Director of the National Statistics Office, Dr. Presenting the National Economic Census, 2082, Dr. Ved Prasad Dhakal said that the economic census is to find out the real size of the informal economy and the real size of the economy.
Director General of the CNI Dr Ghanashyam Ojha said the CNI would play a leading role in collecting data on the private economic census. He said that the private sector should be involved in this process as it would be easier for both the industrialists and the government to formulate plans only if the data is accurate.
