KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is to implement a model programme in 10 wards of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) with an objective of providing the land services and geo-information system at the ward level. The 47th meeting of the party’s executive held under the chairmanship of Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol took the decision to this effect.
Good governance committee coordinator Khyam Raj Tiwari presented the proposal after discussion on the proposal. As per the agreement, the model programme will be conducted in Wards 3, 4, 6, 10, 14, 15, 16, 23, 26 and 31. According to KMC, the service will be expanded to other wards gradually by managing human resources, office and equipment based on the experience gained from the program.
Through this program, services related to land ownership and rights, accounting, records and record management, recommendation of withholding and release, tax and revenue services will be available from the ward office. Likewise, citizen consultation, grievance facilitation, collection of biometric details of service recipients and record management related to the freezing of property will also be conducted from the ward level.

The meeting also agreed to register the land belonging to the Valley Traffic Police Division at Ram Shah Path in the name of the government. The committee members also put forth the discussion regarding removing confusion created by the health insurance programme, supply of human resources for sanitation, wire management, flood control preparedness, expansion of senior citizen service, construction of cooperative problem resolution system and implementation of street lights scheme.
