Six arrested for attacking Armed Police Force (APF) in Birgunj

Birgunj. The Parsa police have arrested six persons on the charge of attacking an illegal godown in Birgunj on Monday.

Three Armed Police Force (APF) personnel were injured and two vehicles of the Armed Police Force (APF) were injured in an attack by a group of local traders during a raid at Madan Gupta’s illegal godown at Adarsha Nagar in Birgunj on Monday.

Hari Bahadur Basnet, Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP), also the Spokesperson of the District Police Office, said that the District Court has remanded the six accused on the charge of assault on the Armed Police Force (APF) to the custody of the accused for seven days.

The arrestees have been identified as Pramod Kumar Kanu of Birgunj Metropolis-10, Kunjan Sarraf of the same locality, Dipraj Sahani Mallah of Birgunj-1, Shree Chandra Prasad Sah of Bindwasini Rural Municipality-5 and Prabhu Mahato and Pritam Kumar Chaudhary of Bihar, India.

The clash broke out when the joint team seized clothes from Gupta’s house in Adarshanagar on suspicion of evading customs duty. The Armed Police Force (APF) has confiscated goods worth Rs 12.50 lakh from the spot.
