Kaski. Pokhara—A sophisticated SLR rifle and 18 rounds of bullets used in it have been found in Fewa Lake of Pokhara.
According to the District Police Office, Kumar Jalari, 42, of Khapaudi, was fishing near Khapaudi on February 12 when he found an SLR rifle with Muwa 111 (Butt) Body No 13810 while fishing.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Information Officer Hari Bahadur Basnet said police confiscated 18 rounds of bullets and magazines along with the weapon. Police said they are investigating who belonged to the weapon found in the lake.
“Police reached the spot and confiscated the weapon after receiving information that the weapon was found in the net. Investigation is underway whether the weapon belonged to the police, the Armed Police Force or the Nepal Army,” Basnet said.
Police said that the Central Arms Storage Section of Nepal Police will keep the record of the firearms, so it will be confirmed soon. It is also believed that the weapon may have been looted from the police station during the Jenji agitation on September 24.
