Kathmandu. Police have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of 71-year-old Laxmi Joshi at Dewal of Shailyashikhar municipality-8 in Darchula district. Police have arrested two persons on the charge of murdering Joshi and robbing her jewelry.
The arrestees have been identified as Umesh Saud, 23, of Shailyashikhar municipality-8 and Gopal Nath, 23, of Baitadi, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gaurav Mahat at the District Police Office. He said that Saud, the tractor driver, and Nath were his accomplices.
According to the preliminary investigation of the police, Joshi was murdered and robbed of his jewelry with the plan of the tractor driver Saud, who is also a neighbour of the deceased. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mahat said that the police confiscated around two tolas of jewelry from the accused.
Among the convicts, Saud was released after serving 11 months in jail while Nath had also served a four-month jail term. According to the police, it has been revealed that they were involved in drug abuse.
During their statements, both of them confessed to the charges and a detailed investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said.
