Police request people not to go to temple wearing jewelry on Mahashivaratri

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Police has issued a 13-point request for security of devotees and belongings visiting the Pashupatinath temple on the occasion of the Mahashivaratri festival.

Spokesperson of the Kathmandu District Police Range, Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai said a 13-point request has been issued for the people not to come wearing jewelry. According to him, people have been requested not to wear valuables and not to bring important and expensive goods as there may be incidents of theft and robbery.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhattarai said that they have also been requested not to bring bags to the temples, not to use plastic bags, cups, plates and other materials as per the Pashupati area standard and not to use broken glass utensils for the purpose of milk, Ganga water and other items.

Police have also urged the devotees to enter the temple only by keeping shoes and slippers in the designated room for the convenience of the devotees.

Similarly, the use of all types of mobile phones, cameras and other materials has been prohibited in the temple premises and leather goods, shoes, slippers, jacket and waistband are prohibited in the temple premises.

Police have urged the people to be cautious of pickpockets and to protect their belongings, to contact the health camp in case any pilgrim falls sick, to contact the police camp or search room immediately in case of any missing belongings or problems.

Superintendent of Police Bhattarai said that the police have requested the people not to litter haphazardly in order to keep the temple and fair area clean and tidy, to use the toilets at the designated places, to help the physically disabled and senior citizens for easy darshan, not to worship in a queue as no special ticket or pass has been arranged for the temple and not to violate the rights of others.
