Kathmandu. Valentine’s Day is celebrated on February 14 every year. Especially the youth celebrate this day with enthusiasm.

However, in recent times, people of all age groups have started celebrating. The popularity of this day, especially in the western countries, has been seen in Nepal in the last few years.

It is said that Valentine’s Day is celebrated in memory of the death sentence of Saint Valentine. In the third century C.E., there was a ruler in Rome named Claudius. “When you get married, both a man’s strength and intellect are destroyed. Therefore, no officer or soldier should marry. They were not allowed to marry. Gradually, Valentine stopped liking Claudius. Valentine married hundreds of officers and soldiers.

Clodius was very angry with his actions and decided to hang Valentine on February 14, 2019. After the execution, Valentine wrote a love letter in the name of the jailer’s blind daughter. Underneath it, it reads, “From your Valentine.” Roses were also sent as gifts. Before his death, he told the jailer, “When I die, give my eyes to your blind daughter.” Since then, people have started celebrating Valentine’s Day on February 14.

On this day, lovers exchange gifts of flowers, cards, chocolates with each other. This day is also considered as the day to propose love to the person you love.

This day is also taken as a sacrifice and dedication in love. On this day, not only lovers are discussed, not only love is discussed, but romantic couples are also discussed with interest. Loving couples, whose work, their contribution to society, nation, and the world are also discussed.

In this context, we are discussing about a couple of employees in the country’s central bank, Nepal Rastra Bank. Of the 1200 employees working in the central bank, more than two dozen are couples (husband and wife).

The pair range from the chief executive director to the assistant level of the department. Executive Director Ramu Poudel’s wife works in the bank. Ramu’s wife Bina Dhakal Poudel is a director of the bank. They are the only employees at the executive director’s level. The rest of the directors, deputy directors, assistant directors, principal assistants and other employees are duo.

Three of them are a pair of directors at the moment. Binita Shrestha, wife of director Laxmi Prasai, is the deputy director of Nepal Rastra Bank. Ranjana Poudel is married to former director Rajendra Pandit. Pandit was considered to be the main attacker during the time of the then Governor Chiranjivi Nepal.

Likewise, Girija Koirala’s wife is Acting Director Pratibha Adhikari. Similarly, Ranjana Sharma, wife of Suman Neupane, is also the deputy director of the company.

It is said that a pair of three deputy directors are working in the central bank.

Assistant Director Deepa Pokharel is the wife of Deputy Director Mitra Prasad Timsina. Bishnu Kumari Khadka, wife of Deputy Director Badri Narayan Thapa, is the assistant director of the company. They are in the last year of their tenure. Director Ranjana Pandit, Deputy Director Thapa and Assistant Director Khadka had joined the service in 2053 BS from the post of Assistant and Cash Assistant respectively.

Assistant Director Bijaya Gautam and Assistant Director Tijendra Raj Shakya of Pokhara are also a couple. Assistant Director Aditya Raj Pokhrel is the husband of Assistant Director Renisha Adhikari. Rajesh Paneru is the assistant director and his wife Asmita Lamsal is also working in the same post.

Assistant Director Rishikesh Bhattarai and Assistant Director Srijana Adhikari are husband and wife. Assistant Director Angdeep Neupane is the husband of principal assistant Richa Dahal.

Suprima Poudel’s husband Damodar Basyal is also an assistant director of the bank.

Assistant director Bimala Kunwar got married to another assistant director Suman Thapa some time ago.

Similarly, Assistant Director Prithu Sharma is married to Assistant Director Asha Manandhar and Principal Assistant Bishwanath Adhikari is married to Chetna Nepal. Alisha Manandhar is the wife of Aayush Manandhar.

Similarly, Pradhun KC’s wife Anita Bajgain and Rabi Chandra Poudel’s wife are also working in Nepal Rastra Bank. Poudel’s father-in-law Pomnath Gautam is a retired director of the bank.
