Kathmandu. The Election Commission (EC) has completed the printing of ballot papers for 155 constituencies of 67 districts for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 4.
A total of 191,24,000 ballot papers have been printed and ready to be transported, EC assistant spokesperson Kul Bahadur GC said. He said that the ballot papers of the remaining 10 districts have also been printed and the packing is yet to be done. Now, only 11,99,000 ballot papers are left to be printed.
Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, Humla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Rukum (western part), Salyan, Surkhet, Bajura, Achham, Bajhang, Doti, Dadeldhura, Darchula, Baitadi, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Panchthar, Ilam, Tehrathum, Bhojpur, Okhaldhunga, Sunsari, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Khotang, Dhankuta, Baglung, Gulmi, Jhapa, Gorkha, Myagdi, Parbat, Bardaghat Susta west (Nawalparasi), Morang, Udayapur, Mustang, Lamjung, Tanahun, Syangja, Bardiya, Rukum (east), Dang, Banke, Nawalparasi (east of Bardaghat Susta) The printing of ballot papers has been completed in 67 districts including Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Pyuthan, Rupandehi, Rolpa, Manang, Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Rasuwa, Sindhupalchowk, Kaski, Kapilvastu, Dolakha, Nuwakot, Kavrepalanchowk, Dhading, Makawanpur, Chitwan and Siraha.
By Saturday, ballot papers from 66 districts had been printed, packed and kept ready for transportation. The ballot papers of one more district have been printed and packed and ready for transportation today, the EC said.
Now, the ballot papers are left to be printed only in the districts surrounding the Kathmandu Valley. The ballot papers will be printed in two days, packed and kept ready for transportation. So far, 17,728 ballot boxes have been packed.
Currently, around 1,000 ballot boxes are being packed and 11-15 lakh ballot papers are being printed in a day. The printing of ballot papers for the election to the House of Representatives under the proportional representation system and first-past-the-post election system has started from January 5 at Janak Education Materials Centre Limited, Sanothimi. According to the EC, one million 98 thousand 200 sample ballot papers have been printed in the first phase and sent to various districts.
According to the EC, the printing of ballot papers under the proportional representation system has been started from January 26 and 20.83 million ballot papers have been printed on January 27 and the ballot papers have been packed and verified and ready for transportation. According to the EC, 203,23,000 ballot papers have to be printed for the first-past-the-post election. The printing of ballot papers under the direct election system has started from the morning of January 29.
The EC had started dispatching the printed ballot papers from Friday. Ballot papers were sent to Karnali in the first phase. The ballot papers were also sent to the remote districts of Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. Ballot papers are yet to be sent in urban areas and easy districts.
