EC’s 64-point directive: Political parties, representatives should take permission from election officer to use vehicles

The 64-point directive issued by the EC today states that vehicles taken in the name of one party or candidate should not be allowed to be used by other parties or candidates. The EC has also directed that no one should be allowed to travel or carry any other type of vehicle except the vehicle permitted by the election officer.

Issuing a press release today, EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai drew the attention of the EC towards the use of ballot papers, ballot boxes or other materials used in the election without the approval of the returning officer.

“No one shall add, amelict, correct or delete any details related to the election, or tear such documents or in any manner damage, damage or destroy them or cause them to do such an act,” the statement reads. Similarly, no person other than the voter and the person or official permitted by the Election Commission should enter the polling station on the day of the election, and any other person other than the candidate or election representative or counting agent or a person permitted by the Election Commission should enter the vote counting centre. The EC has also made it clear that no one should say, write, disclose or publish any information about the vote indicated by the voter in the ballot paper.

The EC has also stated that no one should snatch, loot, damage or damage the ballot boxes or ballot papers or any other election-related documents by force or take them away from the counting centre without the permission of the returning officer. The EC has also directed the voters to display or use any kind of explosive, chemical or poisonous substance or stick, spear, khukuri, gun, pistol or other similar weapons in and around the polling centre or the counting centre.
