Sarlahi District Court obstructs services after murder of sub-engineer

Sarlahi. The Sarlahi district court has disrupted service in protest of the killing of a sub-engineer in Malangawa, the district headquarters on Sunday night.

Holding a sit-in at the main gate of the District Court, they demanded action against the culprits and guarantee of security to the employees.

Sub-engineer Pramod Kumar Yadav, 36, of Sukhipur Municipality-6, Siraha, who was working at the Infrastructure Development Office, was shot dead by unidentified assailants at his rented room at Malangawa Municipality-10 on Sunday night.

Sub-engineer Yadav returned to Malangwa on Sunday afternoon after completing his last rites, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Yogendra Kumar Khadka. He said that investigation is underway from different angles as the incident took place soon after he returned home.

Poonam Yadav, wife of the deceased, said that a person on a motorcycle called Yadav out of his room and opened fire. He was shot in the left chest, police said. A bullet casket was recovered from the scene.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Saroj Rai, a small pistol was used in the incident. Yadav was rescued by police on Sunday night and taken to the Provincial Hospital Malangawa. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

The reason behind the shooting is yet to be ascertained, DSP Rai said. Yadav had been living in a rented room at Malangawa-10 with his wife and two-year-old daughter.
