152 criminal cases registered in Bhaktapur in a month: 62 of banking offenses, 7 of fraud

Bhaktapur. Bhaktapur: A total of 152 criminal cases have been registered in Bhaktapur district and 110 people have been arrested in the past one month.

Releasing a report at the District Police Range Bhaktapur on Monday, two incidents of murder related to heinous and serious crimes took place in the last one month, said Surya Bahadur Khadka, chief of District Police Office, Bhaktapur.

According to him, eight cases of drug abuse, one case of polygamy, 62 cases of banking offense, seven cases of fraud, 16 cases of theft, one case of gambling and two cases of suicide were registered.

According to him, 32 people involved in different incidents have been sent to jail for imprisonment and they have been sent to jail for two years, nine months and one day for the implementation of the verdict. A total of 67,47,080 fines and damages were collected in different incidents, he said.

Police have arrested 36-year-old Alnam Tamang of Kavre Timal rural municipality-9 on charge of murdering 38-year-old Lalmaya Tamang of Bhaktapur municipality-3.

Prabin Bhandari, 27, of Kamalamai Municipality-6, Sindhuli has been remanded to judicial custody on the charge of murdering his mother Sarita Bhandari, 50, at Kaushaltar of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-3.

Of the 36 cases of violence against women, 26 have been settled, 10 are under investigation and 32 are missing and 23 have been found. Of the 183 complaints lodged by the District Police Office in different incidents, 147 were settled, he said, adding that 37 out of 43 complaints received through the District Administration Office were settled.

Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Range, Prakash Jabegu, said that 5 people lost their lives in 227 road accidents involving 340 vehicles in the previous month. According to him, 115 people were injured in the incident.

The police rescued 100 people in different accidents, took action against 1,607 vehicles in course of vehicle checking and collected Rs 1,142,200 in fines, he added.
