Kathmandu. Litmus Industries Limited, Nepal’s leading wire, cable and conductor manufacturer, has received approval from the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) to supply high voltage transmission lines. PGCIL is the central electricity transmission agency of India, which operates inter-state and cross-border power networks. With this, Litmus Industries has become the only Nepali producer to be selected for the cross-border project.
As per the agreement, the company will produce and supply 2,799 km of 400 kV ACSR Moose conductor. These conductors will be used in transmission lines of Didding-Dhalkebar (Nepal) and Bathnaha (India). The transmission line is connected to the 900 MW Arun-3 Hydropower Project. This is an important achievement from the technical and industrial point of view as a 400 kV ACSR mouse conductor will be produced for the first time in Nepal.
Prior to the project, the Power Grid Corporation had conducted an in-depth assessment of the Litmus Industries factory. After reviewing the production process, capacity, quality control, testing system and infrastructure, Litmus was selected as the only Nepali manufacturer qualified for the project.
The Dhalkebar-Bathnaha transmission line is important in the cross-border power connectivity of Nepal and is connected to Arun-3 Hydroelectricity Project. It is expected to strengthen Nepal’s energy security and contribute to industrial development and expansion of electricity trade.
Litmus Industries has experience in large transmission projects. Before this, the company has supplied 3,600 km 400 kV ACSR Moose conductor for the Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Inaruwa transmission line.
Litmus Industries Limited, a part of the Ramesh Corp Group, has been manufacturing wires, cables and conductors in Nepal since 1977. The company manufactures medium voltage, ACSR conductors, aerial bunched cables, low voltage power cables and control cables.
It also supplies litmus cables, FRLS cables and Ecowire-ZH halogen wires for connecting household electricity. It has been operating two state-of-the-art plants in Butwal and Nawalparasi. All of the company’s products and processes are in accordance with national and international quality and safety standards.
