19 out of 64 candidates recommended to open bank accounts

As many as 19 candidates who have filed their candidacies for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives from different political parties and independents have obtained permission from the Election Office for bank transactions. Out of the 64 candidates in the district, they have taken permission for banking business.

According to Netra Raj Shrestha, information officer at the District Election Office, Chitwan, 18 candidates are from political parties and one is an independent candidate. According to him, the representatives of the candidates and candidates have started coming to the office to know about the banking account for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 4 and to know about it and to know about the necessary process for recommendation. He said, “The number of people coming to get information about opening banking accounts is increasing. ”

The Election Commission (EC) has introduced a provision requiring the political parties and candidates to open banking accounts in order to maintain good governance in the elections by making the voluntary financial assistance they receive for the election publicity and the expenditure incurred by the political parties and candidates for their publicity in a frugal and transparent manner.

Similarly, 11 candidates from the district have submitted their manifestos to the EC. According to Shrestha, three independent candidates and eight political parties have submitted their manifestos. The EC had asked the candidates to submit their manifestos to the EC by February 14.

Meanwhile, the materials required for the election to the House of Representatives have started arriving at the election office. The EC has started dispatching materials to the district election offices. A total of 1,250 ballot boxes have arrived in Chitwan, Shrestha said. He said that the election materials will arrive continuously.

There are 162 polling stations and 494 polling centres in the district. There are 442,082 voters in the district. Of them, 217,314 are male, 224,766 are female and two are transgender.
