EVs worth Rs 2.5 billion imported in a month

. Nepal has imported electric vehicles (EVs) worth around two and a half billion rupees in the month of January. In the first seven months of the current fiscal year, EVs worth Rs 15.28 billion were imported in Nepal.

The government had collected Rs 7.62 billion in revenue from the import of such goods till mid-January.

A total of 17 TAG_OPEN_div_20,124 EVs have been imported from various countries in the first seven months of the current fiscal year. According to the statistics of the Department of Customs, the highest number of such vehicles have been imported from China. According to the Department, 14,479 electric vehicles were imported from China alone.

A total of 6,042 unassembled and 4,233 unassembled electric three-wheelers were imported from China.TAG_OPEN_div_18 Likewise, 1,256 cars, jeeps and vans with capacity up to 50 kilowatts were imported. According to the Department of Customs, 2,502 vehicles with capacity of 51 kW to 100 kW, 442 vehicles of 101 kW to 200 kW and four vehicles with 201 kW to 300 kW capacity were imported from China.

A total of TAG_OPEN_div_16 2,218 electric vehicles have come from India, which is the second largest source of EV imports. A total of 117 unassembled and 836 three-wheelers were imported from India. A total of 736 cars, jeeps and vans with capacity up to 50 kW (and two unassembled) were imported, while 498 vehicles with 51-100 kW capacity and 29 vehicles with 101-200 kW capacity entered the country.
