Jhapa. The export of cardamom has increased by 59.80 percent in the first six months of the current fiscal year 2082/83. According to the office, cardamom worth Rs 8.61 billion was exported during the period.
A total of 4,153.15 metric tons of cardamom was exported in the first seven months of the current fiscal year, said information officer at the Mechi Customs Office, Ishwar Kumar Humagain. He said that cardamom worth Rs 5.38 billion was exported in the same period of the previous fiscal year 2081/82.
Tea export has decreased by 26.70 percent in the first seven months of the current fiscal year, according to the statistics of the office. Tea worth Rs 2.32 billion was exported during the period. Information Officer Humagain shared that tea worth Rs 3.16 billion was exported in the same period of the fiscal year 2081/82.
According to the office’s statistics, the major export items like veneer sheet by 91.10 percent, chhurpi by 63.30 percent, ginger, ginger by 101.80 percent, cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage by 36.10 percent, lentils by 316.20 percent and lentils by 92.9 percent.
Similarly, plywood decreased by 40.90 percent and Amriso by 24.90 percent. Goods worth Rs 16.03 billion have been exported from Mechi Bhasan till mid-January of the current fiscal year 2082/83.
