Department imposes fine to Bansbari Rice Mill and Joyce Anna House

. The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DoM), which has been monitoring the market regularly, has imposed fine on two firms on Sunday.

The Department has slapped a fine of two lakh rupees to Bansbari Rice Mill based in Bansbari, Kathmandu after it was found negligent in course of on-site monitoring. Likewise, Jayas Annaghar, Kageshwori Municipality-6, Mulpani Baba Chowk has been fined Rs 10,000. According to the Department, action was taken against the offender as per Section 16 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 as per Section 39 of the same Act.

The department has directed Mega Mart Pvt Ltd and three other firms to present themselves within three days with the documents related to the business. The department has issued corrective directives to seven other firms.

The Department has regularly monitored the market in the presence of local people’s representatives, consumer rights activists and stakeholders.
