Ex-Finance Minister Mahat pledges to implement Sisdol-Banchare dumping site problem as per EIA report

Kathmandu. Former Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has made public his manifesto for the upcoming House of Representatives elections. Dr Mahat made public his commitment for the House of Representatives election and pledged to implement the Sisdol-Banchare dumping site-affected area as per the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report.

Stressing that all development and construction projects should be forwarded on the basis of environmental study, he said the EIA report would be fully implemented for long-term solution at Sisdole-Banchare area. He said that necessary initiatives would be taken keeping in mind the health, environmental safety and improvement of living standard of the affected locals.

Stating that the infrastructure development has been put in first priority, Mahat pledged to forward the construction of the Tokha-Chhahare tunnel way which is in the phase of feasibility study.

He also pledged to complete remaining sections of the Balaju-Ranipauwa-Pipaltar (Pasang Lhamu Highway) and expedite the construction of Dhikure-Samundratar-Golfu Bhanjyang road and Tinpiple-Chaunthe-Kumri-Galchi alternative highway.

According to him, emphasis would be laid on the construction of roads and bridges linking the rural municipality with the rural municipality centre with the agriculture and tourism potential, and major roads connecting the villages would be expanded in each rural municipality.

He also pledged to expand irrigation facilities in arable land by controlling erosion of Likhu and Tadi rivers for strengthening the agriculture sector and to make sustainable arrangement of pure drinking water.
