Kathmandu. Finance Minister Rameshwor Prasad Khanal has stressed the need for the stakeholders to work in an integrated manner through mutual coordination and collaboration to control revenue leakage.
Addressing a high-level meeting of the Central Revenue Leakage Control Committee at Nepal Police Headquarters today, he said the efforts made for systemic reform in order to control revenue leakage should be implemented more effectively.
On the occasion, Finance Minister Khanal urged the state bodies to play their roles in controlling revenue leakage and increasing revenue as per their jurisdiction.
Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki said control of revenue leakage was not only an economic issue but it was directly linked to national security, good governance and prosperity. Long-term and effective results could be achieved in controlling revenue leakage if there was strategic assistance in technology, human resources, legal strengthening and inter-agency coordination.
On the occasion, Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police, Bishwa Adhikari, made a presentation on the role of Nepal Police in controlling revenue leakage and smuggling.
On the occasion, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Uttar Kumar Khatri, made a presentation on various issues related to revenue mobilization and leakage.
During the meeting, chiefs of all seven provincial police offices and chiefs of district police offices of Morang, Bara, Chitwan, Banke and Kailali discussed the efforts made to curb revenue leakage and smuggling.
