Gauriganj. Voters of Gauriganj in Jhapa district have gifted a village to CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli.

Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who had reached Barsudi Tole of Gauriganj-4 to meet voters on Wednesday, said that they have handed over the village to UML and Oli.

Out of 450 voters in the village, 400 have joined the UML. The remaining 50 had already joined the UML.

After joining the UML, local leader Gayananda Yadav assured that none of the voters would vote except Surya and all would vote for the UML’s victory. He said, “Now we have gifted this village to you, now it is all your responsibility to develop this place, how to build it, what facilities to give us.” ’

According to local Mandudevi Yadav, the construction of the Postal Highway, expansion and blacktopping of the Padajungi-Gaurigunj road, upgradation of other internal roads and availability of electricity service in this area have provided many facilities. Locals said that it has become easier now to take agricultural produce to the market, go to the hospital for medical treatment, go to the city in the morning and work and return home in the evening.

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, who is contesting the upcoming House of Representatives election from Jhapa Constituency-5, has been busy in his home constituency for the past few days. Oli has been elected from this constituency since the election of 2048 BS.

Jhapa Constituency 5 comprises all 7 wards of Kamal Rural Municipality, 8 wards of Gauradaha Municipality, 4 wards of Gaurigunj Rural Municipality and 10 wards of Damak Municipality. In the 2079 BS parliamentary election, UML Chairman Oli got 52,319 votes when he was elected from this constituency for the sixth time.

There were 1,54,289 voters in this constituency in the 2021 elections. This time the number has increased to 1,63,379. This time 9,090 new voters have been added compared to the last election.
