Kathmandu. A fertilizer factory is to be established at Srinagar of Susta-3 in Nawalparasi West.
The fertilizer factory is to be set up on the land purchased by Chaudhary Group for the purpose of setting up a banana chips factory.
Tek Narayan Upadhyay, chairman of Susta Rural Municipality, posted a status on Facebook stating that a fertilizer factory is going to be established in his municipality.
Initially, the land was purchased with the intention of setting up a banana chips factory in the area. However, it was decided to use the land for setting up agro-related industries as the quality of bananas produced there was not suitable for operating a chips factory.
According to Upadhyay, the local government has already taken permission from the concerned bodies to set up the fertilizer factory on the same land which was supposed to be set up earlier.
In this context, Mayor Upadhyay wrote on Facebook, “The process of establishing a fertilizer factory on the land purchased for the banana chips factory has started. When our party, Nepali Congress candidate Binod Chaudhary reached Susta during the door-to-door campaign, we got an opportunity to observe the work being done there. I am very happy to see that a fertilizer factory will be set up in that place soon. I believe that this initiative will bring meaningful results in addressing the shortage of fertilizers faced by the farmers of Nawalparasi for a long time. According to Upadhyaya, the construction of the fertilizer factory is going on at a rapid pace.
There is a plan to industrial production of chemical fertilizers, organic fertilizers and other agricultural products in this fertilizer factory. In the initial phase, construction of a state-of-the-art chemical fertilizer industry producing zinc sulphate monohydrate has already started. The construction work of the industry is progressing at a rapid pace. Zinc-rich fertilizers are believed to play an important role in increasing agricultural production by improving the deficiency of micronutrients seen in the soil.
Most of the people of West Nawalparasi depend on agriculture. Sugarcane, paddy, and other crops are the main agricultural products of the region. But every year, farmers have been facing a lot of problems due to shortage of chemical fertilizers, transportation problems, high prices and supply imbalance.
