KATHMANDU: The government has banned the sale of petroleum products in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful manner in order to hold the House of Representatives election in a free, fair, transparent and peaceful environment. The District Administration Office (DAO) has banned the open sale of petroleum products.
Janak Sharma, assistant chief district officer, said that the sale of petrol, diesel and kerosene and other petroleum products in bottles, jerkins and other open containers has been prohibited during the election.
According to a meeting of the District Security Committee, all petrol pumps and entrepreneurs selling petroleum products should be compulsorily registered with the concerned bodies and they have been barred from selling and distributing petroleum products.
Likewise, the District Administration Office has stated that the district administration has banned the sale of the land at a higher price than the fixed price, creating artificial scarcity, keeping unnecessary reserves or misusing it for any purpose other than the election purpose.
Vehicles engaged in essential services including ambulances, hospitals, security bodies and vehicles for election purposes would be provided fuel in the required quantity on the basis of recommendation of the concerned body or on the basis of official identity card, the Office said.
“Regular and emergency monitoring will be carried out in coordination with the District Administration Office, security bodies and Nepal Oil Corporation for the implementation of the provision,” he said. Those violating the decision of the security committee will face legal action including fine, suspension of license or revocation as per the prevailing law, said Assistant Chief District Officer Sharma.
Petroleum entrepreneurs, transport entrepreneurs and the general public have been urged to compulsorily comply with the decision and inform the administration or security bodies immediately if they see any suspicious activities.
