Attack on Iran could be ‘dangerous’, ‘destructive’: Moscow

Kathmandu. Russia on Saturday condemned the US and Israeli attacks on Iran as “dangerous” and “destructive”.

The Kremlin is calling for restraint amid rising tensions and reports of possible US intervention in Iran. Tehran has emerged as Russia’s closest ally during the invasion of Ukraine.

Russia’s foreign ministry said in a statement on Saturday that Washington and Tel Aviv had once again embarked on a “dangerous” and “catastrophic” journey that brought the region closer to a humanitarian, economic and unacceptable radiation catastrophe.

“It has been clearly and openly declared that the intent of the aggressors is to subvert the constitutional order of Iran that refuses to accept the dictates of force and hegemony, and to overthrow the government of a state they deem undesirable,” the statement said.

“The responsibility for this man-made crisis, with its negative consequences, unprecedented chain reaction and escalating cycle of violence, rests solely on them,” the ministry said.

Russia said it was ready to contribute to the pursuit of a peaceful solution based on international law, mutual respect and balance. Moscow has urged Russians to leave Iran and issued a similar warning to its citizens in Israel.

In 2025, Russia and Iran signed a strategic partnership pact aimed at bolstering ties, including in the military sphere.

Kyiv and its Western allies have accused the Islamic Republic of supplying Russian drones and short-range missiles for its invasion of Ukraine.
