Ballot boxes will be escorted to the counting centres: Nepal Army

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army has been mobilized in the elections to the House of Representatives since 2048 BS and has been responsible for the security of the ballot paper printing centres, transportation of ballot papers and transporting the ballot boxes to the counting centres.

Issuing a press release today, the Directorate of Public Relations and Information said that the ballot papers were transported from Kathmandu to the election offices in all the districts of the country, security was provided by the third fence during the election and the ballot boxes were transported to the counting centres by a joint team after the completion of the election.

As in the previous elections, an integrated team comprising Nepal Police, Armed Police Force (APF), election officers, designated representatives of political parties and Nepal Army will transport ballot boxes from the polling stations as per the protocol established after the completion of the election.

“The Nepal Army is committed to conducting the upcoming elections in a safe and secure manner by coordinating and collaborating with the bodies concerned as per the Integrated Security Plan,” reads the statement. All the works related to the election security system are being operated as per the ‘Election of the Members of the House of Representatives Act-2074’ and the ‘Election of the Members of the House of Representatives Integrated Security Plan-2082’.
