Chitwan. Only 21 of the candidates who have filed their candidacies for the upcoming House of Representatives elections have opened bank accounts. A total of 39 people had received recommendations to open bank accounts.
According to District Election Office Chief Bhimsen Karki, there are 64 candidates in the district. He informed that all the candidates have been requested to open their accounts by telephone. “Some candidates say we don’t spend money at all, why open an account,” he said. He said that some of them have replied that they are in the process of opening accounts.
According to him, the representatives of the candidates and candidates have come to the office to know about the banking account as the banking account has been made mandatory for the upcoming elections. He said, “You have come to get information about opening a banking account, but there are still many people left to open the account.” ”
The Election Commission (EC) has introduced a provision to open a banking account in order to maintain good governance in the elections by making the voluntary financial assistance received by the political parties and candidates and the expenditure incurred for their publicity in a frugal and transparent manner.
Similarly, 12 candidates from the district have submitted their manifestos to the EC. According to Karki, three independent candidates and nine political parties have submitted their manifestos. The EC had asked the candidates to submit their manifestos to the EC by February 14.
