Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The deposits of the candidates of the CPN-UML and the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) have been forfeited in Kathmandu-1.
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)’s Ranju Darshana has won the seat.
Darshana of Rastriya Janata Party (RSP) won the election with 15,455 votes. Nepali Congress candidate Prabal Thapa Chhetri came second with 6,364 votes.
CPN-UML’s Mohan Naraj Regmi garnered 3,972 votes while NCP’s Menuka Bhandari got 315 votes.
According to Clause 64 of Chapter 10 of the Election Act, the deposit of the candidate securing less than 10 per cent of the total valid votes will be forfeited. As per this provision, the deposits of the candidates of CPN-UML and NCP will be forfeited.
