UML candidate Suhang elected from Ilam-2

Ilam. CPN-UML candidate Suhang Nembang has been elected to the House of Representatives from Ilam-2.

According to the final result released by the Office of the Chief Returning Officer, CPN-UML candidate Nembang defeated NC’s Bhesh Raj Acharya by 7,776 votes. Nembang was elected with 22,426 votes, according to Chief Election Officer Roshan Gajurel. His nearest rival was NC’s Narayan Kaji Shrestha who got 14,650 votes.

Similarly, Labor Culture Party’s Sudip Rai got 14,400 votes, Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Gokul Bahadur Rai got 7,814 votes and Nepali Communist Party’s Om Bahadur Gurung got 1,172 votes.

This is Nembang’s second election to the House of Representatives. In the by-election held on April 28, 2081, Nembang defeated Nepali Congress candidate Dambar Bahadur Khadka by 5,820 votes. Nembang garnered 27,772 votes while Khadka garnered 21,942 votes.

This is Acharya’s second defeat. In the 2013 Constituent Assembly election, Acharya lost to Suhang’s father Subash Chandra Nembang by 2,102 votes.

A total of 67,664 votes out of a total of 119,489 voters were cast in the election held on March 4. A total of 3,883 votes were invalid. A total of 14 candidates including 13 different political parties and one independent are in the fray.
