Kathmandu. The stock market closed for the third time on Monday after the first trading day after the House of Representatives elections. According to the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), the trading will open only on Tuesday.
On Monday, the stock market rose 6 percent to the positive circuit. The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 5 percent to the positive circuit for the second time in the first 1 minute of trading.
The NEPSE index climbed 162.93 points to close at 2875.43 points. Shares worth Rs 51.06 crore were traded in the stock market today. The share prices of 252 companies have increased while the share prices of one company have fallen.
Share prices of all 13 sub-groups increased today. Today, the share prices of 2 companies were in the positive circuit while the shares of 10 companies were traded in the positive circuit level.
On Monday, the NEPSE index surged by 1.64 percent in the pre-open session. The stock market rose 4 percent in one minute of opening and 5 percent in the 23 minutes of trading.
As per the circuit break, if the NEPSE index goes up or down by 4 percent within one hour of the commencement of trading, the trading will be closed for 20 minutes.
Similarly, in case of a 5 percent decrease or increase in the second hour, 40 minutes and in the third hour or the following, the trading will be suspended for the rest of the day.
