Kathmandu. Israel has congratulated the Government and people of Nepal on the successful conclusion of the elections to the House of Representatives in Nepal.

Addressing a press conference on ‘New Dawn in the New West Asia’ here today, Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Shmulik Ari Bass expressed Israel’s desire to further strengthen bilateral friendship and cooperation with Nepal. He described the successful election as an important step to consolidate democracy.

The Israeli envoy said Israel wants peace in the Middle East and is ready to talk to all its neighbours for peace and progress in the entire region. He accused his country of repeated attacks by extremist groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas, which were financed and otherwise supported by Iran.

He said Israel was retaliating in self-defense because the extremist group posed an existential threat, adding that Israel did not intend to target Iranian civilians in the airstrikes.

“The airstrikes by the United States and Israel are aimed at neutralizing Iran’s nuclear threat,” he said. This is not only a matter of West Asia but also of global security. ”
