Kathmandu. Former lawmaker of Gandaki Province Dipak Manange alias Rajiv Gurung has been released. He was released today from Dillibazar jail.

The Supreme Court had convicted Manange of attempted murder for throwing a sword on the hands of Milan Gurung ‘Chakre Milan’ on May 14, 2004. The Supreme Court had sentenced Manange to five years imprisonment on November 3, 2001.

The sentence was upheld by the Patan High Court on August 12, 2002. Manange had filed an appeal at the Supreme Court on May 9, 2018.

Earlier, he had been in jail for 2 years and 8 months. The Kathmandu District Court on March 7, 2001 had ordered 20 percent remission for him to be jailed for two years and four months.
