Kathmandu. Tehran: Tehran’s president’s son has claimed that Iran’s new leader Mojtaba Khamenei is safe and sound, amid reports that he was wounded in combat.

This claim has been made against the backdrop of the ongoing war with Israel and the United States.

Iran’s president’s son and government adviser Yousef Pezeskian commented on the condition of Khamenei on his Telegram channel on Wednesday, saying he had heard reports of Khamenei’s injuries, but had not confirmed it. He said he had questioned some people he had contacted and told them that Khamenei was safe and healthy.

“I heard about Mojtaba Khamenei’s injury. I’ve asked some of my friends. They said by the grace of God that he is safe and sound,” Pejeskian wrote on social media.

Earlier, state television described Khamenei as a “wounded veteran of the Ramadan war”. However, there were no specific details about when or how he was injured.

Mojtaba Khamenei is the son and successor of the Islamic Republic’s longtime supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a joint U.S.-Israel strike on Iran on February 28. The incident sparked a war in the Middle East.

56-year-old Mojtaba Khamenei is generally seen as a less visible figure in public life. He is rarely seen in public and rarely speaks at official events.

He has not made an official address to the nation even after being declared the supreme leader on Sunday. So far, there has been no written statement from him, which has helped spread speculation about his condition.

Meanwhile, the New York Times reported on Wednesday that three unnamed Iranian officials said that Mojtaba Khamenei was wounded. According to the report, he had a leg injury, but he was conscious and was living in a very secure position with limited communication.
